We bought this cooktop after reading generally positive reviews. I ask 2 things from a cooktop:
1) It works as described
2) It's easy to clean and looks good
The first is fine so far. We've had it 2 months so far, and it works as expected.
However, the 2nd is very problematic. It's a real pain to clean - you have to use a warm soapy cloth first, and then follow that with a microfiber cloth. After that it still doesn't look too great. Our old cooktop was a lot easier and much less time-consuming.

When we needed to replace our cooktop we decided to try Bosch this time. We are thrilled with this cooktop. It has 5 burners in the same surface area where we used to only have 4. I love the large central burner and the simmer burner is great. Highly recommend this product especially for people who love to cook and need multiple burners / strengths!!

We had recently purchased another cooktop and I was extremely disappointed in it. I, therefore, looked into the 500 Bosch cooktop and decided this was the cooktop I wanted. It it a beautiful 5 burner stainless steel cooktop and I love all the features it offers. The middle burner is for large pots or pans. The front left burner is for keeping foods warm. What a wonderful idea. This cooktop looks beautiful with my other appliances and I will never, never by any other appliances than Bosch.

The Bosch stove top works very well. Heats up fast, easy to adjust heat and beautiful in my kitchen. Have tried all burners for different purposes such as sauté, boil, and fry. Results are great! Very happy with purchase.

I have not had this cooktop for a long time, but so far it is proving to be far superior to what it replaced. The middle burner and the simmer burner are my go to. overall it has superior heat control on all burners, the surface is easy to clean and it gives my kitchen a very upscale look.

I love my new Bosch Cooktop. It looks great in my kitchen. It does a great job heating quickly on the middle burner and simmering on the Optimsim burner. I find it a little difficult to keep clean, however. But since I started using the conditioning cloths after cleaning with soap and water, it is always shiny and looks brand new. I purchased it at Best Buy. I then purchased a Bosch dishwasher too. I was unhappy to find out that the Kitchen rebate of 2 or more Bosch appliances doesn't apply to my purchases because for some reason a dishwasher does not count as a seperate category if you have only purchased 2 appliances. On 3 or more, it does count as a seperate category, so that doesn't make sense to me.

We had this cooktop installed as part of our kitchen remodeling. The stainless look is nice and works as expected. The flame control is smooth and precise. Lighting the burner may take a little getting used to initially, as you should not release the knob once lighted too soon or too late.

Installation was straighforward and relitivly easy (had to cut the cabinet some). The one I installed was propane and setup for that was described well in the instructions. I've had this for about two months now and it works well. Does require some work to keep clean. I have a full size microwave mounted above this cooktop and because of the height of the grates, lost about 1.5 inches of clearance between the cooktop and microwave (I didn't take this into account), so tall pots do not fit on the right side back burner.

We had a Dacor gas cooktop (from 2006) which developed problems for which no parts were available. Time to replace! Happily, our salesperson steered us to the Bosch 500 Series cooktop. Although we had to slightly enlarge the opening in our counter to accomodate it, we are really happy. Five burners instead of four. A beautiful, clean look that really enhances the kitchen's appearance, and it works great. Now that we no longer have kids at home, the front controls are a plus. And we like the visual reminder that there's a burner on - saves on costly (and potentially dangerous) errors.

We actually have the NGM5058UC, which seems to have been supplanted by this model, so our issues may no longer be valid.
Prior to purchasing this, which we did mostly because it would fit in the cutout of our old gas cooktop, we read many reviews complaining about the how the gloriously shiny finish on this unit was hard to clean. Those complaints were valid.
Within the first week of use, some hot vinegary water got spilled on the "metal" knobs, which evidently soaked into the lamination that makes the knobs shiny. The resulting spots seem to be uncleanable.
The grates are heavy and hard to clean because they are rough. Scrub them with a sponge or a paper towel and they will have little bits of sponge or paper sticking to them. Ditto with the removable burner tops.
I do appreciate the fact that the steel surface under the grates is a big shallow tub, which keeps spills out of the interior of the cooktop, but to really clean it you have to remove the burner tops, the burner spacers etc. And any trace of water remaining on the "stainless" surface will spot. The only thing I've found that removes the water spots is a barely damp microfiber polishing cloth.
All in all I'd say it takes a good 30 to 40 minutes to clean this unit, which, if you are obsessive about maintaining a spotless cooktop, you'd have to do every time you cook with it. Fortunately, we are not obsessive.
My only other issue is that the igniter action is tricky. Sometimes if you turn the knob too quickly after the gas ignites, the gas flow just shuts off. I think the trick is to stop depressing the knob immediately, THEN turn the knob out of the ignition zone.
